epson s 21 1. Problem Description

During a printers cleaning cycle it dispels ink from its nozzles and tubes down a waste pipe into an absorbent pad. The printer manufacturer has put a counter in your printer that counts every page that has ever passed through the printer, even blank pages! When the counter has reached a certain number the printer will shut down to prevent overflow of ink to the pads.

Due to the different types of printing, the waste ink pads may be between 40% and 80% full before the printer stops working. Normally the printer will display the INK PAD error message:

The error will remain for about 20 prints and then go into ?limp? mode, where it will not print anything or give access to any other menu function. The ONLY way to make the printer work again is to use a waste ink pad reset. After the reset, you will have to do the following:
